Prescribing "Red Flag" Analysis
Controlled Substance Consulting (CSC) is pleased to announce the introduction of a suite of analytical products, including a prescription analysis for prescribers and a dispensing analysis for pharmacies. These products are designed to take an analytical approach to evaluate the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substance prescriptions with an eye towards identifying prescription red flags. Some of the prescription red flags we can identify are:
· Commonly diverted/abused drugs
· Patient/prescriber/pharmacy distances
· Unusually high quantities
· Controlled and non-controlled ratios
· High morphine milligram equivalents (MMEs)
· Problematic drug combinations
· Therapeutic duplication
· Cash payments
Our findings are presented in an easy to understand, yet compelling way that highlights potential problems or best practices. We will also work with our clients to develop a compliance or improvement plan to minimize or mitigate any identified risks.
